Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively with the President Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
